Nine Ugandan Ministry of Finance officials were committed to the High Court for trial after prosecutors told the Anti-Corruption Court that investigations into an alleged Shs60 billion loss were complete, Daily Monitor reported.

The charge set spans corruption, causing financial loss, abuse of office, electronic fraud and money laundering. Complex public-finance cases of this kind often depend on a joined-up record of authorisations, system access, payment instructions, beneficiary accounts and the movement of funds after disbursement.

The committal means the allegations are proceeding to trial; it is not a finding of guilt. Each accused person remains entitled to due process and the presumption of innocence.
